School to School Support
The East Midlands Teaching School Alliance has the capacity to support other schools through the use of National, Local and Specialist Leaders of Education. As each Teaching School in the region develops their own website please follow the links to each TSA to look at the support available and find information on how to contact the Teaching Schools.
National Leaders of Education
National leaders of education (NLEs) are outstanding headteachers or principals who, together with the staff in their schools (designated national support schools (NSS)), use their skills and experience to support schools in challenging circumstances. In addition to leading their own schools, NLEs work to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards. Their fundamental moral purpose is to ensure that there is a good school for every child.
Local Leaders of Education
The aim of the Local Leaders of Education (LLEs) is to improve pupil outcomes through partnership working between schools and academies. Local leaders of education are successful headteachers who work alongside other heads to drive forward improvements and build capacity to ensure that improvements can be sustained.
Specialist Leaders of Education
The aim of Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) is to offer support to individuals and teams in similar roles in other schools. They are experienced leaders who have demonstrated outstanding practice and have the skills to support others in similar contexts.
National Leaders of Governance (NLGs)
NLGs focus on developing leadership capacity. They offer support to chairs of governors sometimes in liaison with NLEs. This may include schools/academies:
- with an Ofsted or local authority category – or at risk of going into one
- where attainment is below the current minimum standards set by the government
- in transition to academy status
- where the chair of governors is new
- where working practices for a chair, headteacher or leadership group need developing
